I know it’s been a while since I last posted to give an update on my progress, but I’m here to do just that. Unfortunately, this is kind of a good news/bad news update, but in the end I know it’s really all for the best.
I guess I’ll start with the bad news first: after a lot of struggling, indecision, and just general agonizing over my rewriting of “Camp Ferguson”, I’ve decided not to move forward with it and to shelve that book indefinitely. I may return to it at some point, but I just wasn’t really happy with the way it was turning out, and I didn’t like the fact that I had characters I really loved stuck in what I felt was an increasingly trivial and silly narrative. I also have discovered that while I’ve learned a lot about it in writing this book until now, humor writing may not be my thing after all. You may see me return to “Camp Ferguson” at some point in the future, or repurpose some of the characters for another story at the very least, but for now, it’s goodbye to the supposed Harry Potter/Animal House spoof.
The good news is that, as it’s been a while that I’ve been away from the world of my first book, “The Showstopper!”, I’m pleased to say that I can now begin to move forward once again with the sequel to that story, “The Showstopper Returns!” I’ve been giving this second installment a lot of thought, and if the first book was (hopefully) an exciting adventure, this one is going to be an all-out, no-holds-barred, absolutely epic battle between good and evil. At least, that’s the idea. It’s a return to most of the main characters of “The Showstopper!” 15 years later, in 1937, with some notable changes that might take you my surprise.
As I may have mentioned before, I’m also planning on purchasing this site at some point in the near future to make it my official, self-owned webpage, and even trying to boost my readership and views by publishing chapters of my finished works in installments. In all, I’ve been a bit lost for a while, but now I’m finally starting to feel like I’m moving forward again. I can’t wait to see how things turn out.
